  • Good lung capacity varies based on age, gender, height, and other factors, but a normal Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) for a healthy adult ranges from 3 to 5 liters. A result within or above this range suggests normal lung function, but specific values depend on the patient's demographic data and medical history.
  • A healthy spirometry reading includes an FVC and a Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV1) that are at or above 80% of the predicted values for the individual's age, gender, height, and ethnicity. The FEV1/FVC ratio should typically be above 0.70 to indicate healthy lung function.
